LUSAKA, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Tuesday.
-- Zambian President Edgar Lungu has urged diplomats accredited to Zambia to market the country so that it can continue attracting foreign investments. (Zambia Daily Mail)
-- Barrick Gold, the Canadian mining giant, has submitted proposals to the Zambian government aimed at reaching a compromise regarding new taxes and warned that if the current tax regime was retained all options would be considered, including selling the mine.
The company, which runs Lumwana Mine, in northwestern Zambia, said it was continuing to negotiate with the Zambia government for a mutually-beneficial way forward for its operations. (Times of Zambia)
-- Economists have commended Mopani Copper Mines, for its commitments towards preservation of jobs in view of introduction of a new mining tax regime by the Zambian government.
