Malta's cruise passengers decrease 5.6 percent in 2018

VALLETTA, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- The amount of cruise passengers who came to Malta in 2018 decreased 5.6 percent over 2017, Malta's National Statistics Office (NSO) said on Tuesday.

According the NSO, total cruise passengers stood at 632,739 in 2018, with 66.9 percent came from EU member states.

Meanwhile, there were 310 cruise liner calls in 2018 with an average 2,041 passengers per vessel, compared to 342 calls and an average 1,959 passengers per vessel in 2017.

On a gender basis, female passengers made up 53.4 percent of all the arrivals.

Most passengers were between 60 and 79 years old, accounting for 39.8 percent of the total. They were followed by passengers aged 40-59 with 31.6 percent. Enditem
