ALGIERS, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is set to pay a two-day visit to Algeria on Wednesday at the invitation of his Algerian counterpart Abdelkader Messahel, APS news agency quoted a statement of Algerian Foreign Ministry as saying on Tuesday.

The statement said Lavrov's visit "is part of regular political dialogue between the two countries."

During his stay in the capital Algiers, Lavrov is due to hold talks with Algerian top officials to exchange views on major regional and international issues, including the situation in Libya, Mali and Syria.

The visit comes at a time when the bilateral cooperation between Algiers and Moscow is witnessing constant progress.

Unstable oil prices should also be on the agenda of Lavrov's visit, as Algeria and Russia have already underlined the necessity to continue their efforts among Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and non-OPEC members in a bid to rebalance the market. Enditem
