CAPE TOWN, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in South African major news outlets on Wednesday.

-- Political parties on Tuesday welcomed the signing of the Political Party Funding Bill into law by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The bill provides for the establishment of two funds for represented parties, disclosure of donations and the prohibition of certain donations made directly to parties. (Independent Online)

-- African National Congress (ANC) Chief Whip Jackson Mthembu said on Tuesday the party won't be acting just yet against Member of Parliament (MP) Vincent Smith who is alleged to have received bribes from BOSASA company.
