BAGHDAD -- At least a policeman was killed and three others wounded in a suicide car bomb attack in Iraq's northern province of Kirkuk on Wednesday, a provincial police source said.

The attack took place in the afternoon when a suicide bomber drove his explosive-laden car into a federal police checkpoint near the town of al-Riyadh in the south of the provincial capital Kirkuk, some 250 km north of the national capital Baghdad, Saad al-Obeidi told Xinhua. (Iraq-Suicide Bomb)

BANGKOK -- Thailand's Election Commission on Wednesday set March 24 as the date for the country's long-awaited general election, one month later than an earlier schedule of Feb. 24.

ANKARA -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday departed for Moscow to meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, amid the U.S. troops' withdrawal from Syria.

MOSCOW -- The Russian government is planning to allocate more than 515 billion rubles (7.78 billion U.S. dollars) for the development of the country's aerospace industry from 2019 to 2021, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Wednesday.

"This money should be effectively used to build up our orbital capabilities, create a super-heavy class carrier and carry out a manned flight program," said Medvedev at a meeting on the financial conditions of the Roscosmos state space corporation and its affiliates, according to a transcript by the government.
