WASHINGTON -- Five people were killed Wednesday after a shooter opened fire in a bank in the U.S. state of Florida, according to local police.

"After an assessment of the scene we were sorry to learn that we have at least five victims, people who were senselessly murdered as a result of his act in this bank," Sebring Police Chief Karl Hoglund told reporters at a press conference. (Florida-Shooting)

KHARTOUM -- At least two children were killed and 50 people injured in an explosion south of the Sudanese capital Khartoum, Sudanese Police announced Wednesday.

"An unfortunate incident took place on Tuesday evening at Jabal Awliya locality, which led to the killing of two children and injuring of 50 others, some of them with serious injuries," Hashim Abdel-Rahim, Sudanese police spokesman, said in a statement Wednesday. (Sudan-Explosion-Children)

WASHINGTON -- U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Wednesday that she would not host U.S. President Donald Trump to deliver a state of the union speech before government reopens, all but rejecting Trump's intent to deliver the speech on Jan. 29.

"I am writing to inform you that the House of Representatives will not consider a concurrent resolution authorizing the president's state of the union address in the House chamber until the government has opened," Pelosi said. (US-Pelosi-Trump)

CHICAGO -- Boeing Company on Tuesday successfully completed the first test flight of its autonomous passenger air vehicle (PAV) prototype in Manassas, U.S. state of Virginia, the Chicago-based plane-maker said in a statement Wednesday.

The PAV prototype completed a controlled takeoff, hover and landing during the flight. Powered by an electric propulsion system, it is designed for fully autonomous flight from takeoff to landing, with a range of up to 50 miles (about 80 km). (Boeing-Autonomous PAV) Enditem
