TOKYO -- A magnitude-5.7 earthquake hit Japan's Iwate Prefecture on the Honshu Island on Saturday, according to Japan Meteorological Agency.

The temblor occurred at about 17:23 local time, with its epicenter at a latitude of 40.3 degrees north and a longitude of 142.4 degrees east, and at a depth of 30 km. (Japan-Quake)

JALALABAD, Afghanistan -- At least one person has been confirmed dead and another injured in a blast that rocked Jalalabad city, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province on Saturday, an official said.

CANBERRA -- Two divers who helped rescue 12 Thai boys and their football coach from a flooded Thai cave have been jointly named 2019 Australians of the Year.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore launched the eighth and final Littoral Mission Vessel (LMV) at the Singapore Technologies (ST) Marine's Benoi Shipyard Saturday.
