U.S.-listed Chinese firms trade lower

NEW YORK, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded lower on Tuesday with eight of the top 10 stocks by weight in the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on a downbeat note.

Shares of BeiGene and Baidu lost 3.43 percent and 1.33 percent respectively, the top laggards in the top 10 stocks.

Shares of TAL Education and Yum China gained 2.04 percent and 1.07 percent respectively, the only two advancers in the top 10.

U.S. stocks closed mixed on Tuesday as investors digested a batch of corporate earnings reports and key economic data.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 51.74 points, or 0.21 percent, to 24,579.96. The S&P 500 was down 3.85 points, or 0.15 percent, to 2,640.00. The Nasdaq Composite Index decreased 57.40 points, or 0.81 percent, to 7,028.29.

As of Monday, the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index stood at 2,496.24, marking a 8.94-percent increase for both the month-to-date and the year-to-date returns. Enditem
