LUSAKA, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Wednesday.

-- Zambia and Botswana have signed a memorandum of understanding to help fight transnational crimes involving wildlife.

The National Prosecutions Authority of Botswana and the Director of Public Prosecution in Zambia signed the agreement following concerns of rising transboundary wildlife crimes. (Times of Zambia)

-- Finland is transitioning its relationship with Zambia from development cooperation to trade and economic relations, its ambassador to Zambia has said.

Pirjo Suomela-Chowdhury said Finland will now focus on trade and economic relations on its bilateral relationship with Zambia. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- Zambia has reiterated that the country's sovereignty was intact and that it was not being lost to other countries and financial institutions due to debts.

Government Spokesperson Dora Siliya said continued reports about Zambia losing its sovereignty were false and should be ignored with the contempt they deserve. (Daily Nation)

-- Sixty percent of Zambian children living in rural areas face deprivation in three or more livelihood dimensions, a report released by the United Nations children's agency has revealed.

The report, 'Child Poverty in Zambia-a multiple overlapping deprivation' says deprivation in rural parts of the country among children was rampant at 60 percent while it only represents 10 percent for urban areas. (The Mast) Enditem
