LONDON, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Wednesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 1.58 percent, or 107.70 points, to close at 6,941.63 points.
British American Tobacco, a tobacco group, soared 4.86 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Melrose Industries and DS Smith increased by 4.12 percent and 4.10 percent respectively.
