MINSK, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- There is no alternative to the Minsk agreements, said Martin Sajdik, the OSCE's special envoy to Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) on Ukraine.

All participants of the Minsk process should do everything necessary to fully implement the Minsk agreements on Ukraine, the diplomat said on Wednesday following the negotiations in Minsk.

Ensuring security and decent living conditions for the population in the conflict zone is one of the main priorities of the contact group, Sajdik stressed.

The number of civilian casualties was significantly reduced in 2018, he said, adding that this trend continues this year.

Sajdik also said the negotiators discussed the topics about improving the conditions for crossing the contact line, exchanging prisoners, preserving vital civilian infrastructure and many others.

The next meeting of the contact group is scheduled for Feb. 13.

The TCG is a group of representatives from Ukraine, Russia and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to facilitate a diplomatic solution to the conflict in eastern Ukraine. Enditem
