TRIPOLI, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- Libya's Interior Ministry on Wednesday warned armed groups to stay outside Tripoli.
The warning came one week after the capital witnessed violent clashes between forces allied with the government and an armed group called the Seventh Brigade from the nearby city of Tarhuna, southeast of Tripoli.
The fighting killed at least 16 people and injured 60 others, including civilians, according to the Ministry of Health.
Libya's UN-backed Prime Minister Fayez Serraj last October approved new security arrangements in Tripoli, which focused on forming joint police and army forces to secure the capital city.
Libya has been plagued by insecurity and escalating violence since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011. Enditem
