BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.30 percent, at 2,618.23 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 2.74 percent higher at 7,684.00 points. The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 3.52 percent to close at 1,271.27 points.

MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed higher Friday. Major gainers are from auto, energy, FMCG, pharma, IT and infra space, while metal and banking stocks were remained under pressure during the day.

The benchmark S&P, BSE Sensex closed at 36,469.43, 212.74 points or 0.59 percent up compared to its previous close at 36,256.69.

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Friday moved up 9.67 points, or 0.59 percent to close at 1,651.40 points.

Some 12.02 billion shares worth 47.96 billion baht (about 1.54 billion U.S. dollars) changed hands.

SINGAPORE -- Singaporean stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 0.05 percent, or 1.49 point, to close at 3,188.68.

A total of 1.21 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 954.13 million Singapore dollars (about 707.81 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 201 to 171.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh City bourse in southern Vietnam, closed at 908.67 points on Friday, down 1.98 points, or 0.22 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.

Over 140.799 million shares worth 3.891 trillion Vietnamese dong (169.2 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, with prices of 182 stocks rising, 92 stocks decreasing, and 106 stocks remaining unchanged.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 103.34 points on Friday, up 0.46 points or 0.44 percent from the previous trading session.

Prices of 87 stocks went up, 44 stocks dropped, while 247 stocks remained unchanged.

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market closed on Friday 0.80 percent higher compared to the previous trading day.

The Lao Securities Exchange composite index increased 6.64 points, reaching 832,64 points after closing.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed down 11.73 points, or 0.04 percent, to 27,930.74 points on Friday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 27,802.5 and 28,193.28. Turnover totaled 91.01 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 11.59 billion U.S. dollars).

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 1.71 percent higher on Friday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index increased by 136.68 points to 8,144.16. The all-share index went up by 79.66 points, or 1.65 percent, to 4,909.51.

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks ended essentially flat on Friday.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged up 14.90 points, or 0.07 percent, from Thursday to close the day at 20,788.39.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended almost unchanged Friday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) inched down 1.39 points, or 0.06 percent, to settle at 2,203.46. Trading volume stood at 471.7 million shares worth 6.7 trillion won (6 billion U.S. dollars).

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's stocks finished lower on Friday, with the Cambodia Securities Exchange Index down 30.25 points, or 5.15 percent, to close at 556.63.
