HAVANA -- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez on Saturday called for mobilization to defend Venezuela and "stop the imperialist intervention in Latin America."

"The U.S. government, the true mastermind behind the coup d'etat vs. Venezuela, is threatening to launch a military aggression against that sister nation. It is putting pressure on Europe to become its accomplice," Rodriguez tweeted.

"Let's all mobilize to stop the imperialist intervention in Latin America," he added.

KHARTOUM -- Sudan's Prime Minister Mutazz Musa on Saturday described the calls of protests over the economic conditions as "legitimate."

"Voice must be heard and respected despite presence of exploitation by political trends," said Musa when addressing a political symposium in capital Khartoum on Saturday.

"There are legitimate demands that must be expressed," noted Musa, pointing out that those demands would find open heart on the part of the government.

CARACAS -- Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Saturday called on leaders of opposition parties to abandon "the road to U.S. intervention" and find a solution to the country's political crisis.

Speaking in front of thousands of supporters in the capital city of Caracas, Maduro asked the opposition leadership to "stop calling for war, stop calling for military intervention."

"It's time to find solutions" for the country, Maduro said.

TRIPOLI -- Libya's eastern-based army on Saturday confirmed it will not "take any side" in southern Libya, as the army continues its military operation against armed groups in the region.

"The armed forces are a national institution that has not and will not take side with any social component against another. The target of the armed forces is clear to all: a united precious homeland where everyone is equal before the law," the army said in a statement.

"Some segments which oppose this approach are spreading rumors to instigate strife between the people and the legitimate institutions. We strongly warn against this," the statement said. Enditem
