Sri Lankan president holds talks with Maldivian counterpart

COLOMBO, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena on Tuesday held bilateral talks with his Maldivian counterpart Ibrahim Mohamed Solih at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo, a statement from Sri Lankan President's office said.

The statement said the two sides had decided to sign fresh agreements for cooperation in the fields of health, education, navigation, trade and security.

According to the statement, the Maldivian president commended the efforts by his Sri Lankan counterpart to eradicate drug menace.

The two leaders also discussed the need to enhance facilities for Sri Lankan investors doing business in the Maldives and to facilitate visa for the Maldivian children studying in Sri Lanka.
