TOKYO -- Japan's famous fast-food restaurant chain Yoshinoya Co. has admitted that cockroaches were found in a chicken bowl served last year at one of its outlets, local media reported Tuesday.

The fast food chain, mainly known for its mainstay beef bowls, said Monday that a customer complained about finding small cockroaches in the food he ordered in October last year at a Yoshinoya branch in the city of Fukuoka. (Japan-Restaurant)

KABUL -- The Afghan government has launched coupon distribution to the families of security personnel who lost their lives in fighting against militant groups, the Presidential Palace said Tuesday in a statement.

"The plan was initiated by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani," the statement said.

The program aimed to assist the families of the martyred security forces, President Ghani told a ceremony in the Presidential Palace attended, among others, by Afghan First Lady Rula Ghani, cabinet ministers and family members of the security forces martyrs. (Afghanistan-Security Forces)

MANILA -- Two separate explosions rocked two towns in the southern Philippine Lanao Del Norte province on Tuesday on the eve of a second plebiscite to ratify an autonomy law in some parts of Mindanao, the military said.

Col, Alex Aduca, a spokesman for an Army brigade in the province, said no one was reported injured in both explosions in the towns of Lala and Kauwagan. (Philippines-Explosions)

MANILA -- A motorcycle exploded on Tuesday near a military checkpoint manned by soldiers in Talayan town in southern Philippine Maguindanao province, a Philippine military official said.

Maj. Arvin Encinas, spokesperson of the Philippine Army's 6th Infantry Division, said no one was killed or injured in the explosion that happened around 12 at noon some 100 meters from a military checkpoint in Tambuan village. (Philippines-Checkpoint) Enditem
