LONDON, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Thursday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 1.11 percent, or 79.51 points, to close at 7,093.58 points.
Smith & Nephew, a British multinational medical equipment manufacturing company, soared 5.71 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Compass Group and Hiscox increased by 3.66 percent and 1.77 percent, respectively.
