WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday that a second summit with top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un is to be held on Feb. 27-28 in Hanoi, Vietnam's capital.

"My representatives have just left North Korea after a very productive meeting and an agreed upon time and date for the second Summit with Kim Jong Un. It will take place in Hanoi, Vietnam, on February 27 & 28," Trump tweeted, referring to U.S. special envoy for DPRK-related issues Stephen Biegun's DPRK visit.

WASHINGTON -- Matthew Whitaker, acting U.S. attorney general, said Friday that he has not interfered with the ongoing Russia investigation led by special counsel Robert Mueller.

"There has been no event, no decision that has required me to take any action," Whitaker told the House Judiciary Committee Friday morning. "I have not interfered in any way with the special counsel's investigation."

ADDIS ABABA -- United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Saturday called for more coordinated international efforts to fight climate change.

The international community needs more political will to fight climate change, the UN chief told a press conference on the sidelines of the 32nd ordinary session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU) in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

"The international community needs more political will to undertake climate change mitigation, adaptation and climate finance activities," Guterres said.

BAGHDAD -- French Defense Minister Florence Parly arrived Friday in Iraq's capital Baghdad on a surprise and unannounced visit to discuss bilateral ties and the enhancement of Iraqi military capabilities, according to an official presidential statement.

Parly was received by Iraq's President Barham Salih in Peace Palace.

"Iraq wants to establish advanced and expanded relations with France in various fields. We firmly believe that the two countries can play an important and influential role in many regional and international issues," the statement quoted Salih as saying. Enditem
