OTTAWA -- Three people were killed and 11 others wounded over a fire occurring early Saturday in an apartment in Longueuil, Quebec Province, Canada, according to CTV.

The fire broke out in the apartment building with several dozen units around 01:00 a.m. local time. Fourteen people were taken to hospital, where a couple in their 40s and a woman in her 60s died. (Canada-Apartment Fire)

DAMASCUS -- The U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) started on Saturday the final attacks against the Islamic State (IS) militant group in eastern Syria, Kurdish activists reported.

Following the evacuation of more than 20,000 civilians from the town of Baghouz in the eastern countryside of Deir al-Zour Province, the SDF started the night operation against the last IS-held pocket in the eastern Euphrates region, according to Mustafa Balli, head of the SDF media office. ISTANBUL -- The death toll has risen to 21 from the collapse of an eight-storey apartment building in Istanbul, Turkey's interior minister announced Saturday night.
