PARIS, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Edinson Cavani will be sidelined for next week's Champions League round of 16 first leg against Premier League side Manchester United as Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain updated the Uruguayan striker's injury report on Sunday.

Cavani's spot kick gifted PSG a 1-0 home win against Bordeaux on Saturday, but he limped off and was substituted just at the start of the second half.

PSG said that medical examinations have revealed an injured tendon in Cavani's right hip.

"The treatment of this injury and the length of his unavailability will depend on the evolution of the injury over the coming days," the club said in a statement, meaning that Cavani fails to recover timely for the crucial duel against Manchester United.

Cavani's injury was another blow to PSG as they have alreaday been deprived of Brazilian star Neymar due to his right foot injury.

PSG will visit Manchester United in next Tuesday's first leg of Champions League round of 16, where they crashed out in both of last two seasons.

PSG's defender Thomas Meunier was also ruled out after suffering a light concussion against Bordeaux.

"Thomas will be unavailable until his next neurological consultation at the end of the week," PSG revealed. Enditem
