TOKYO, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Two people have been left unconscious after a fire broke out in a warehouse here, with the blaze forcing Haneda airport to shut down one of its runways, local firefighters said Tuesday.

At around 1:25 a.m. local time Tuesday, an emergency call was received by the Tokyo Fire Department saying that a seven-story warehouse was ablaze.

Two unconscious men were among the three rescued by firefighters from inside the large warehouse, which is located in an industrial section of Ota Ward, along Tokyo Bay.

Four people who had evacuated to the roof were also rescued by firefighters, authorities said.

The inferno at the warehouse required more than 50 fire trucks to be deployed to tackle the blaze.

Firefighters told local media they believe the fire started on the fifth of the building's seven floors.

Due to the blaze, Tokyo's Haneda airport, which is located close to the site, was forced to close one of its four runways, the transport ministry here said.

The exact cause of the fire at the warehouse in Ota is still in the process of being determined, fire investigators and local police said. Enditem
