STOCKHOLM, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- The International Ski Federation (FIS) announced Wednesday to keep the Alpine combined on program while adding an individual parallel event for the next worlds.

The 2021 Alpine skiing world championships will be held in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy.

Before the meeting held at Are, Sweden during the ongoing Alpine worlds, there had been concern that the combined, Alpine skiing's original Olympic event introduced at the 1936 Games, would be eliminated.

According to an FIS statement, the world skiing governing body will analyze "media viewing statistics and on-site spectators" for both combined and parallel events in order to decide the future program.

The decision means there will be seven disciplines in Cortina, namely downhill, slalom, giant slalom, super-G, combined, parallel, and a team event. Enditem
