BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 1.37 percent, at 2,682.39 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.15 percent lower at 8,125.63 points. The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.30 percent to close at 1,357.84 points.

MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed flat on a negative note Friday.

Among the sectoral indices pharma, metal, auto and FMCG witnessed selling pressure, while some buying was seen in energy and infra space.

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market closed on Friday down 0.69 percent compared to the previous trading day.

The Lao Securities Exchange composite index decreased 5.66 points, reaching 814.06 points after closing.

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Friday moved down 15.70 points, or 0.95 percent to close at 1,636.94 points.

JAKARTA -- Indonesia shares closed lower by 30.93 points, or 0.48 percent, to a level of 6,389.08 on Friday.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 0.41 percent, or 13.42 points, to close at 3,239.74.

A total of 1.42 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.12 billion Singapore dollars (about 824.19 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 249 to 165.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended mixed here on Friday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,688.83 down 0.23 points or 0.01 percent, and the Emas was at 11,750.27 up 4.70 points or 0.04 percent.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed down 531.21 points, or 1.87 percent, to 27,900.84 points on Friday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 27,845.87 and 28,256.69. Turnover totaled 102.28 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 13.03 billion U.S. dollars).

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended lower Friday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) declined 29.76 points, or 1.34 percent, to settle at 2,196.09. Trading volume stood at 395.6 million shares worth 5 trillion won (4.4 billion U.S. dollars).

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 1.03 percent lower on Friday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index decreased by 82.36 points to 7908.89. The all-share index went down by 28.32 points, or 0.58 percent, to 4823.32.

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Friday as a firm yen impacted exporter issues, while sluggish U.S. retail sales dented market sentiment and sparked concerns about the health of the U.S. economy.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 239.08 points, or 1.13 percent, from Thursday to close the day at 20,900.63.

WELLINGTON -- New Zealand stocks fell on Friday as global trade uncertainties have impacted exporters including A2 Milk and Fisher&Paykel Healthcare.

The S&P/NZX 50 index decreased 39.27 points, or 0.42 percent, to 9,246, of which 17 stocks declined, 16 rose and 17 were unchanged.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's stocks finished lower on Friday, with the Cambodia Securities Exchange Index down 1.89 points, or 0.32 percent, to close at 591.29.
