SEOUL -- South Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) held talks Friday at the inter-Korean liaison office in the DPRK's border town of Kaesong, according to local media reports citing Seoul's unification ministry.

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan -- At least nine Afghan border force members and 16 militants were killed after Taliban attacked border security checkpoints in southern Kandahar province on Friday, provincial police chief said.
