OTTAWA, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- 2019 Spring Festival Gala Ottawa is to be staged at the Algongquin Commons Theatre in Ottawa Saturday evening with a huge performance.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson, Senator Yuen Pau Woo, Senator Victor Oh, MP Geng Tan and MP Chandra Arya, Charge d'Affaires a.i. Heng Xiaojun of the Chinese Embassy in Ottawa have sent congratulatory messages to the gala, according to Zhang Zhigan, organizer of the gala Saturday.

In his message, Trudeau said "I am pleased to extend my warmest greetings to everyone attending the Spring Festival Gala 2019 Ottawa."

"This special occasion brings together family and friends of Chinese descent to reflect on the past year and look ahead with enthusiasm and optimism," he said.

Zhang said the gala, which had a large audience in the city in past years, is recognized by Chinese Canadians as the city's most watched program.

The 2019 Gala is expected to attract hundreds of viewers as artists from China and Huaxing Arts Group Ottawa will give performances, including traditional Chinese opera, dancing, vocal music and instrumental music, to show the charm of Chinese culture. Enditem
