BANGKOK, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's Foreign Affairs Minister Don Pramudwinai reassured on Monday that "outsiders" are no longer necessary to observe the March 24 election in the country.

The foreign minister apparently referred to any international organizations which might offer to observe Thailand's election because, he reconfirmed, Thai authorities and political sector could carry it out on their own.

Don admitted that "outsiders" might have observed previous elections in Thailand, but he said that they were no longer necessary to play such a role as long as diplomats or officials of embassies currently based in this country could do it.

His comments followed criticisms that the March 24 race to parliament might possibly be prone to electoral riggings, thus prompting the calls for international organizations to come and see to it that it could be held in a clean and just fashion. Enditem
