ULAN BATOR, Feb.18 (Xinhua) -- A gala concert celebrating the long-standing friendship between China and Mongolia was held here on Monday night, with more than 1,000 attending.

The Chinese Lunar New Year concert was co-organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China and the Chinese Embassy in Mongolia, aiming to strengthen cultural ties and friendship between the two countries.

Chinese Ambassador to Mongolia Xing Haiming and Mongolian Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports Yondonperenlei Baatarbileg attended the event.

The concert was held to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year and 70 years of solid friendship between China and Mongolia, he said.

"Such cultural events are essential to strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples," Baatarbileg said.

As this year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Mongolia-China ties, more events will be held to further strengthen ties between the two countries, he added.

Around 100 famous Mongolian singers, musicians and dancers participated in the two-hour concert at the Cultural Center of Mongolia in the capital of the country, presenting a mix of Chinese, Mongolian and world-famous works. Enditem
