TRIPOLI, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Libyan Foreign Ministry on Tuesday condemned the bombing in the Egyptian capital Cairo on Monday, which resulted in three deaths and wounding several others.

"The Foreign Ministry of the Government of National Accord strongly condemns the terrorist attack in al-Darb al-Ahmar district of Cairo on Monday," the ministry said in a statement later Tuesday.

"The Ministry reaffirms its full solidarity with the Arab Republic of Egypt in its efforts to maintain the stability of the country and the safety of its citizens. The Ministry reaffirms the position of the State of Libya in combating and confronting terrorism in all its forms until it is eliminated, as terrorism is a violation of all values, customs and religions," the statement said.

Two Egyptian policemen were killed and three other policemen were injured Monday in the blast in the old quarter of the Egyptian capital Cairo, and the attacker himself was also killed after he detonated explosives after being besieged by police officers, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Interior.

Egypt has seen a string of bomb attacks since July 2013, hitting targets in North Sinai and other provinces including the capital Cairo. Enditem
