CAPE TOWN, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in South African major news outlets on Wednesday.

-- President Cyril Ramaphosa on Tuesday called on traditional leaders to ensure all South African citizens are able to exercise their democratic right to vote.

In just under three months' time, on May 8, South Africans will go to the polls in national and provincial elections, Ramaphosa said in his address at the opening of the National House of Traditional Leaders in Cape Town. (News24)

-- Finance Minister Tito Mboweni faces a balancing act ahead of his maiden budget Wednesday to reassure investors over the country's troubled public electricity company without alienating union allies ahead of national elections.
