LUSAKA, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Wednesday.

-- The British government says the arrest of top government officials for alleged corrupt practices is enough evidence that the Zambian government is committed to fighting corruption.

Fergus Cochrane-Dyet, British High Commissioner to Zambia, said the move by security agencies to investigate and arrest some senior government officials has sent a strong signal to the international community. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- Zambia's health ministry says the country needs to almost double the number of its workforce in the health sector from the current 42,630 to 80,274 by 2025.

The Ministry of Health says the country needs to train an additional 37,644 staff and recruit them to serve the expected population of 20,574,138 in 2025. (The Mast)

-- The Zambia government says it will not entertain First Quantum Minerals' offer to buy government shares in a mining firm run by the Canadian mining giant.

Minister of Mines and Minerals Development Richard Musukwa said the government has rejected the 700 million U.S. dollars offer and that it has no intention of selling off its share because it wanted to continue having a stake in the country's resources. (News Diggers) Enditem
