TEHRAN, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Intelligence Ministry said on Thursday that its forces have identified and busted two terrorist cells in the west of the country, official IRNA news agency reported.

A total of 13 people, affiliated to the Islamic State (IS) militant group, were arrested in the operations in Iran's western province of Kurdistan, IRNA said.

The terrorist cells intended to carry out bomb attacks and assassinate some Iranian Sunni clerics in the province, it added.

Some of the arrested had been trained abroad, the report said, adding that remote-controlled bombs, arms and munitions were seized from the terrorist groups. Enditem
