UNITED NATIONS -- In a fresh displacement, some 2,500 people, mainly women and children, fled fighting in Hajin and Baghouz, both Islamic State holdouts, to an already overcrowded camp in northeastern Syria, a UN spokesman said on Friday.

Fleeing besieged sites in Deir Ezzour governorate, the evacuees arrived in Al-Hol camp in Hassakeh governorate late Thursday, bringing the total number of internally displaced people in the camp to over 43,000, said Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. PARIS -- Yahia Abou el Hamman, one of Mali's senior Islamist militants, was killed by French forces during an operation in the northern region of Timbuktu, France's Ministry of the Armed Forces announced on Friday.

In a statement, the ministry said the operation was carried on Thursday afternoon after French troops had spotted "three vehicles in a suspicious state." (France-Terrorism)

GAZA -- One Palestinian teenager was killed on Friday and dozens injured in clashes between hundreds of Palestinian protesters and Israeli soldiers during the weekly anti-Israeli rallies and protests held in eastern Gaza Strip, close to the border with Israel, medics said.

Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of the Health Ministry in Gaza, told reporters that Yousef al-Dayah, 15, from Gaza city, was killed after he was shot in his chest by Israeli soldiers' gunfire during the protests. (Gaza-Clashes)

JERUSALEM -- The Israeli police increased security measures in East Jerusalem's flashpoint holy site on Friday, arresting at least 60 Palestinians ahead of the weekly prayers.

The arrests took place in East Jerusalem before worshippers gathered for the Friday's prayers at the site, known to Jews as the Temple Mount and to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary. (Israel-Jerusalem) Enditem
