WASHINGTON -- China and the United States have achieved substantial progress on specific issues following their latest round of high-level economic and trade talks in Washington, the Chinese delegation said Sunday.

During the Feb. 21-24 talks, the seventh round since February last year, Chinese and U.S. negotiators further implemented the important consensus reached by the presidents of the two countries during their December meeting in Argentina, and focused their talks on the text of an agreement. DAKAR -- Macky Sall has been reelected as Senegal's president, Prime Minister Mahammed Boun Abdallah Dionne announced early Monday, citing preliminary results.

According to the Senegalese prime minister, who is also the outgoing president's representative, Macky Sall obtained 57 percent of the vote and won the whole presidential election. (Senegal-Presential election-Results)

ISLAMABAD -- At least one person was killed and 13 others injured on Sunday evening in a bomb blast in Dera Murad Jamali city of Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province, local media reported.

According to the reports, some unknown miscreants planted a bomb inside a motorbike and parked it outside a shop in Mazdoor Chowk area in Dera Murad Jamali, headquarters of the Nasirabad district of Balochistan. (Pakistan-Blast)

SARI PUL, Afghanistan -- At least two militants were confirmed dead and nine others including two senior commanders sustained injuries as government forces launched operations in Sangcharak district of the northern Sari Pul province, an army statement said here on Monday.

Since launching the crackdowns on Sunday, the security forces, besides gaining grounds and recapturing several villages, have also killed two insurgents and injured nine more including Mawlawi Abdul Haw, the shadow governor for Sangcharak district, and Mullah Noor Mohammad, the chief of military commission of the Taliban in the area, the statement said.
