BERLIN, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Former head of the German brothel chain "Paradise" Juergen Rudloff, known as "brothel king", has been sentenced to five years in prison for aiding and abetting human trafficking, pimping and fraud, the Stuttgart regional court announced on Wednesday.

The court found that in many cases the women were threatened, beaten and humiliated by their pimps in order to make the prostitutes, some of whom were under 21 years of age, submissive.

According to the presiding judge, Rudloff, 65, worked with motorcycle clubs Hells Angels and United Tribuns, who supplied the brothel with prostitutes. The brothel would have been ruled by members of the two groups.

Rudloff had opened his first brothel back in 2008 and propagated as allegedly honest prostitution for years. According to Rudloff, the women were self-employed. However, the court asserted that at least 17 young women were exposed to violence of human traffickers and pimps engaged in prostitution "without substantial own merit".

Against Rudloff, the criminal court ordered the confiscation of compensation amounting to about 1.3 million euros.

Furthermore, Rudloff's 52-year-old "marketing manager" was sentenced to three years and three months imprisonment for aiding and abetting pimping and serious human trafficking. Enditem
