OSLO, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Norway's prime minister Erna Solberg and foreign minister Ine Eriksen Soreide will attend an Arctic forum in Russia on April 9 and 10, the Norwegian government said Wednesday.

Solberg and Soreide have accepted the invitation from Russia to participate in the fifth "Arctic: Territory of Dialogue" International Arctic Forum in St. Petersburg, the Norwegian prime minister's office said in a statement.

"The neighbourhood with Russia is a constant and important factor in Norwegian foreign policy and cooperation with Russia is important for stability in our neighbouring areas," Solberg was quoted as saying.

"This remains despite a challenging security policy situation and a more strained relationship between Russia and the West," she said.

The theme of this year's forum is the "Arctic - a sea of opportunities", with a focus on sustainable economic and social development in the region, the statement said.

In this way, continuation of the political dialogue with Russia in a larger Arctic context will support Norwegian-Russian cooperation on the management of marine resources, as well as Norwegian efforts to promote sustainable marine management internationally, the Norwegian government said. Enditem
