LA PAZ, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- Bolivian President Evo Morales on Thursday warned the international community that attempts re-emerge to "fragment Latin American and Caribbean unity."

"From Bolivia, we denounce and warn the international community that there is, once again, an attempt ... to fragment our Latin American and Caribbean unity," Morales said during the opening of the extraordinary session of the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly in the city of Santa Cruz.

"During past few weeks, we have seen the severe damage caused by the drums of war. We condemn all forms of armed violence on our territories," he said. "We reject the aggression by the United States against our people, who only wish to live free from all threats."

The Bolivian president made the remarks in the context of the difficult political situation in Venezuela. It began on Jan. 23 when National Assembly President and opposition leader Juan Guaido declared himself "interim president" and was recognized by the United States and some other countries.

Morales said there exist "new forms of intervention and interference," which affect the peaceful coexistence between peoples.

War has never resolved a single problem; on the contrary, it has only generated pain, injustice and desolation of many for the benefit of a few, he said, adding that problems can only be solved by integration and collaboration among all nations. Enditem
