RIYADH, March 2 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Air Force will take part in Red Flag 2019, an international military drill held from March 3 to 16 in the United States.

The Saudi Air Force, along with the air forces from the United States, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Belgium, the Netherlands, and Singapore, will take part in the exercise, the second of its kind in 2019, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The Red Flag exercise, launched in 1975, is a two-week advanced aerial combat training exercise held several times a year by the U.S. Air Force.

The purpose of the exercise is to give pilots from the United States, NATO and other allied countries an opportunity to practice and refine skills for real combat situations. Enditem
