ISLAMABAD -- At least six people were killed and dozens of others injured when torrential rains and snowfall brought life to a standstill in parts of Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province, local reports said on Sunday.

Most of the victims including women and kids were either electrocuted or got killed or injured after being trapped inside the rubbles of collapsed houses in the province. (Pakistan-Torrential rain)

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Sunday issued notification of partial restoration of flight operation at Lahore airport in the country's Punjab province after a halt of about 80 hours.

"Flight operations to and from Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore resume under restricted airspace along with existing NOTAM (Notice to Airmen). Please contact your airline for further details," the CAA said on twitter. (Pakistan-Lahore-Airport)

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan -- Eight militants including a key Taliban commander Mullah Tor Naqibullah were killed and nine others injured as fighting aircrafts pounded Taliban hideout in Shah Walikot district in the southern Kandahar province on Sunday, an army statement said.

"Acting on tip off the fighting aircrafts struck a hideout of Taliban rebels in Wach Baghto area of Shah Walikot district early today morning, killing eight armed insurgents including notorious commander Mullah Tor Naqibullah and seven of his armed fighters on the spot and injured nine others including a group commander Mustari Zubair," the statement said here. SEOUL -- The combined forces of South Korea and the United States will replace their massive springtime military drills with the new "Dong Maeng" exercise slated to continue from March 4-12, the Combined Forces Command (CFC) said Sunday.

"Exercise Dong Maeng is a combined command post exercise that highlights the longstanding and enduring partnership and friendship between the two nations and their commitment to the defense of the Republic of Korea (ROK) and regional stability," the CFC said in a statement.
