CAPE TOWN, March 4 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in South African major news outlets on Monday.

-- The African National Congress (ANC) said on Sunday it is concerned about a report alleging that it is bullying the embattled South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC).

This came after the party's head of elections, Fikile Mbalula, reportedly met with the most senior editors of the public broadcaster on Friday, where he is said to have accused the newsroom of a "clampdown" against reportage of ANC election activities. (News24)

-- The African National Congress (ANC) said on Sunday it wants stricter sentences imposed on perpetrators of rape and gender-based violence.

The party called for bail conditions to be tightened and harsher sentences in combating violence against women and children particularly in cases of sexual assault and domestic violence. (Eyewitness News)

-- President Cyril Ramaphosa arrived in neighboring Eswatini, formerly known as Swaziland, for a working visit on Sunday.
