BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.12 percent, at 3,027.58 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 2.36 percent higher at 9,384.42 points.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed up 147.42 points, or 0.51 percent, to 28,959.59 points on Monday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 28,760.67 and 29,241.8. Turnover totaled 148.92 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 18.97 billion U.S. dollars).

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Monday, with the benchmark Nikkei stock index ending at a three month high, as a solid lead from Wall Street and the yen's softer tone lifted investor sentiment.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 219.35 points, or 1.02 percent, from Friday to close the day at 21,822.04.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 0.95 percent, or 30.68 points, to close at 3,251.08.

A total of 1.42 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.23 billion Singapore dollars (about 668.29 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 232 to 223.

WELLINGTON -- New Zealand shares, the S&P/NZX 50 index, rose 0.66 percent to 9,413 on Monday.

EROAD Limited, which provides road charging solution, was up 11.02 percent to 0.27 NZ dollars (0.18 U.S. dollars), while Wellington Drive Technologies Limited, which provides refrigeration products, edged down 10.2 percent to 0.22 NZ dollars.

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Monday moved down 6.14 points, or 0.37 percent, to close at 1,635.30 points.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh City bourse in southern Vietnam, closed at 993.99 points on Monday, up 14.36 points, or 1.47 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.

Over 235.644 million shares worth 5.036 trillion Vietnamese dong (218 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, with prices of 230 stocks rising, 94 stocks decreasing and 57 stocks remaining unchanged.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 108.53 points on Monday, up 1.27 points or 1.18 percent from the previous trading session.

Over 54.2 million shares worth 695.8 billion Vietnamese dong (nearly 30.3 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Monday.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.44 percent higher on Monday.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's stocks finished lower on Monday, with the Cambodia Securities Exchange Index down 10.5 points or 1.75 percent to close at 587.83.

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market was higher Monday with a broadly stronger market and technology stocks lending particular support.
