AMMAN, March 4 (Xinhua) -- The World Bank will provide 1.9 billion U.S. dollars to Jordan over the next two years to support the country's reforms, state-run Petra news agency reported on Monday.

The support is almost the same amount of money that the World Bank has provided to the country over the last five years, the report cited Kristalina Georgieva, interim president of the World Bank Group and chief executive officer of the World Bank, as saying.

The loans are subject to the approval of the World Bank's board of directors.

Over the next two years, the World Bank, through its private investment arms, seeks to create pipeline projects in Jordan worth 1 billion dollars.

During a conference in London on Feb. 28, several countries and international financing institutions pledged billons of dollars in support for Jordan's reforms. Enditem
