WINDHOEK, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Namibia will host its inaugural Namibia Annual Sports Expo (NASE) 2019 from 4 to 7 in September in Windhoek. This was affirmed Tuesday when FNB Namibia made a donation towards the NASE.

The chief administrator of the Namibia Sport Commission, Fred Mwiya said that the project was well on track.

"As we witness the handover of the pledge from FNB Namibia, we are given new strength to work harder to see through the success of the Namibia Annual Sports Expo 2019. The team working on the project is progressing very well and we have already held four strategic meetings since we started in October," Mwiya said.

The Minister of Sport, Youth and National Service, Erastus Uutoni said sport was a critical component in nation building.

"Sport is so critical for our nation and we need to involve other ministries as well, like the Ministry of Environment and tourism, because we want to host more international tournaments here. Also the ministry of education - we want to involve physical education in schools and we want to engage the teachers and increase coaches at schools," he said.

Uutoni added that soon Namibia would establish a sport museum.

"Our next project will be to establish a sport museum. We are already busy with the concept and we will provide more information soon," he said. Enditem
