BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Thursday moved up 7.70 points, or 0.47 percent to close at 1,633.21 points.

Some 12.83 billion shares worth 38.62 billion baht (about 1.22 billion U.S. dollars) changed hands.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore shares closed 0.21 percent higher on Thursday.

Singapore benchmark Strait Times Index rose 6.64 points to 3,229.48 points. Trading volume was 897 million shares worth 949 million Singapore dollars. Decliners outnumbered advancers 219 to 181.

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market closed on Thursday with an increase of 0.07 percent compared to the previous trading day.

The Lao Securities Exchange composite index increased by 0.54 points, reaching 819.18 points after closing.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed down 258.15 points, or 0.89 percent, to 28,779.45 points on Thursday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) lost 9.81 points, or 0.45 percent, to settle at 2,165.79. Trading volume stood at 278.9 million shares worth 4.6 trillion won (4.2 billion U.S. dollars).

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Thursday as investors were in a risk-off mood following the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development cutting its projection for global economic growth the previous day.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 140.80 points, or 0.65 percent, from Wednesday to close the day at 21,456.01.

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market closed higher on Thursday, with the index edging toward a five-month high.

At the close of trade, the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index was up 18.30 points or 0.29 percent at 6,263.90, while the broader All Ordinaries index gained 17.40 points or 0.28 percent at 6,344.20.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's stocks finished higher on Thursday, with the Cambodia Securities Exchange Index up 2.47 points, or 0.42 percent, to close at 587.08.
