TBILISI, March 7 (Xinhua) -- Georgia will provide "unprecedented support" for education and invest one-fourth of the state budget for educational goals, said Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze on Thursday.
"Funding for education will be increased annually and will reach the highest point in 2022. By then, the investment to education will amount to 6 percent of the country's GDP, or a quarter of our country's budget," said Bakhtadze in a keynote speech at the National Library in Tbilisi.
During the presentation of the government initiative: Education - Way to Freedom, Bakhtadze claimed that the government's efforts to provide for high-quality education will also encourage the private sector to invest money in the field, which will result in new schools and kindergartens, high-educational institutions and new campuses.
"Georgian youth will not have to leave the country to receive high-quality education," Bakhtadze said, adding that teachers' salaries will increase accordingly by the year 2022. Enditem
