KWALE, Kenya, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Kenya's security officers are after two al-Shabab terror suspects who escaped a raid last week in coastal Kenya.

Kwale police commander Tom Odero said Juma Mwengo Athman, 26, and Salim Mohamed Rashid, 21, both members of Somalia-based al-Shabab, are armed and dangerous.

Reports indicate that the two were charged in terror-related cases in Mombasa but released on bond in 2016.

"We have not arrested anyone yet, but we have intensified our search," Odero said.

He said the two suspects are believed to have sneaked into Kenya from Somalia through Lamu last year and have been staying in Mombasa before moving to Ng'ombeni, Kwale county, in January.

Police said the two studied in Turkey and received military training in Syria. Enditem
