GHAZNI, Afghanistan -- At least 17 armed militants were reported killed and 12 others sustained injuries after the fighting aircrafts pounded the armed opposition forces' hideouts in Gero district of Afghanistan's eastern Ghazni province on Wednesday, said an army statement Thursday.

The sorties were conducted against armed militants' hideouts in Nakam and Shakor localities of Gero district, leaving 17 armed militants dead on the spot and injured 12 others, besides destroying three vehicles used by the insurgents, according to the statement. (Afghanistan-Militancy)

SEOUL -- South Korea's top nuclear envoy will visit Russia and Belgium, in which the European Union (EU) is headquartered, next week to discuss the Korean Peninsula situations with his counterparts, according to Seoul's foreign ministry.

SHAH ALAM, Malaysia -- The Malaysian attorney-general has rejected the request to drop the charge against Doan Thi Huong, a Vietnamese woman, for the death of a man from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) at a Malaysian airport in 2017, a court was told here on Thursday.
