Morocco telecom company to acquire subsidy in Chad

RABAT, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Maroc Telecom, Morocco's leading telecom company, announced Thursday that it reached a deal with Luxembourgian company of Millicom to acquire its subsidiary in Chad.

The completion of the acquisition operation of Tigo Chad, the largest mobile operator in this African country, is subject to the approval of Chadian authorities, Maroc Telecom said in a statement.

The acquisition is part of Maroc Telecom's plan of development internationally and expansion of its presence in the region, the statement noted.

Maroc Telecom, controlled by the United Arab Emirates' Etisalat Group along with the Moroccan government, has subsidies in more than ten African countries. Enditem
