WINDHOEK, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Namibia experienced more than 400 cases of Gender Based Violence (GBV) in the past two months, a move that has raised alarm in the southern African country, the Windhoek city police said Friday.

The cases include rape, physical violence as well as reported murder cases.

Giving evidence at the campaign to combat GBV organized by the Office of First Lady in Windhoek, the Windhoek city police reveled that 438 cases on GBV were registered at the police while an additional 164 cases were attended to without being recorded as cases.

"We urge victims of GBV and members of the public to report cased of GBV to the relevant officials," said the city police.

The campaign was organized as part of the Office of First Lady's efforts to encourage a cross spectrum of Namibians to fight GBV in Namibia. Enditem
