PARIS, March 15 (Xinhua) -- French shares edged up on Friday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 up 1.04 percent,or 55.54 points,to close at 5,405.32 points.

Of the 40 selected large companies, 36 gained in the day.

Stmicroelectronics, a French-Italian multinational electronics and semiconductor manufacturer, advanced 4.99 percent, European IT services corporation Atos rose 3.25 percent. French global automotive supplier Valeo rose 2.98 percent.

International oil and gas industry service provider Technipfmc lost 0.15 percent, French multinational advertising and public relations company Publicis Groupe lost 0.28 percent and French multinational retailer Carrefour went down by 1.28 percent. Enditem
