-- Some traditional rulers in central Zambia have asked the government to revise the country's mining law in order to help curb rampant illegal mining.
The traditional leaders said when they met President Edgar Lungu that the Mining Act should be revised so that earnings from mining go to empowering local communities, adding that it is not right that local resources are being exploited at the expense of host communities. (Times of Zambia)
-- Authorities in Zambia have warned communities in some districts about the approaching tropical cyclone, Idai, which has already killed dozens and left thousands homeless in Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
The Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit said the tropical cyclone is likely to extend to Zambia and affect five of the country's 10 provinces. (Daily Nation)
